I hear it over and over again, "Steph, I just want to tone up!"
What you mean is you want to BUILD MUSCLE. But I get it. The word "muscle" is scary. You think you're going to bulk up like crazy, and turn into a man (or something like that).
But honestly, I know that putting on muscle can be scary because it implies that you are going to gain weight and we are taught that gaining weight is bad.
But building muscle actually decreases body fat, boosts your metabolism and makes you feel STRONG AND SEXY AF!
Here are my top tips to follow when building muscle.
It's not as complicated as you may think! We just naturally complicate things ;)
Strength train, challenge yourself, eat enough to FUEL your workouts and build that sexy muscle and ditch the diet mentality! You cannot be strong and perform optimally if you are cutting out carbs.
You will be surprised at how much your metabolism boosts when you start strength training, so you don't need to cut out food or food groups! Your body NEEDS and WANTS the energy.
