Supplements can be sooooo confusing. We see people drinking all these shakes and powders at the gym, before the gym, after the gym.
Should we be drinking them too?
There are A MILLION different brands - how do you know what to choose!?
Alright. LET ME BREAK IT DOWN.
Supplements are called supplements for a reason - they are an ADDITION TO YOUR DIET. Supplements do not replace nutrition.
The #1 thing that will help you in your fitness journey is a balanced diet. That means eating mostly "whole foods" but allowing yourself the freedom for those "treats". It means eating when you're hungry and fuelling your workouts while re-fuelling them after.
Let me make it simple for you, pre-workout is a stimulant. It helps boost your energy for your workout. But not only does it boost energy, it increases focus and concentration so you can stay FOCUSED on crushing your workout.
I have tried various pre-workouts. Some, I felt nothing. Some made me extremely jittery and anxious (not fun). The ONLY one that made me energized and focused WITHOUT the jittery feeling was Cellucor C4.
Note: The first time you take ANY pre-workout you may experience those tingly feelings. That is NORMAL. It will taper with time.

BCAAs (Branch Chain Amino Acids)
Again, we are NOT going to make this complicated. BCAAs are not food. They have no energy/calories to them. They are simply a formula used to help aid in muscle recovery. I drink my BCAAs during my workout and finish it after.
"After a grueling workout, only two things matter: replenishment and recovery. Replenishing lost minerals and electrolytes while fueling your muscles with aminos can help fight muscle breakdown during recovery. When you’re not training or recovering, you can still reap the benefits from Alpha Amino. When water just won’t cut it, don’t reach for a sugary sports drink, grab some Alpha Amino for a flavorful, sugar-free way to hydrate.

This isn't technically a supplement but...
FIT JOY BARS ARE MY JAM!
I have a major sweet-tooth. You probably know that. I love chocolate and peanut butter - preferably mixed together. If I can eat something that ALSO provides me with energy and protein WHILE eating chocolate and peanut butter, then I am ONE happy girl.
I looooove Cookies and Cream (they are my fave). But they are all pretty darn good. And when comparing Fit Joy to other protein bars, they are not all...plastic-y. They feel like you are literally eating a cookie!
You can even use my code "xogingy" for Fit Joy bars to SAVE! PLUS they usually have really good deals on - and the code works ON TOP OF THAT! Stock up on your bars!
So, when it comes down to it. Supplements are not complicated and you don't need a million of them to reach your goals. Try them. See if you like them and if they work for you. But remember, the NUMBER ONE thing to fuel your workouts is FOOD and NUTRITION.
