So I just posted this picture below on Instagram showing "Dieting + cardio versus No Diet + Lifting." What was the purpose of this? To show you that you do NOT have to go on a strict diet, and do cardio all day every day to get a "fit" body. I did this for YEARS and let me tell you, I was NOT happy.
Let's think about this now...
1. Why would you want to restrict food you love?
No, seriously. WHY? You like it. You enjoy it. So EAT IT. There are no "good" or "bad" foods. Yes, some food is more nutritious than others, but it doesn't mean the "others" need to be avoided at all costs. Heck, I avoided peanut butter for over a year because somewhere online I read it "had too much fat and would make me fat." And if you know me now, you know I eat peanut butter all day every day.
2. Why would you do workouts you hate?
Again, no seriously! WHY!? If you hate it, why are you doing it? If you hate running on the treadmill for an hour, it's probably because it's boring AF and you aren't seeing results besides wasting your muscle mass away. Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for cardio. But, it's not every day and it's not a priority if you're trying to be STRONG and LOOK STRONG.
3. Cardio all day will not give you abs.
I have girls message me "I want abs." You know what my advice is? Eat more and strength train. It wasn't until I started doing exactly that, that I saw strong, defined ab definition. Also, know that the goal for having abs shouldn't be to take Instagram selfies. YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT.
Please please please. Yes, I am begging you. Stop dieting. Stop hating the way you are living because you think it's going to change your body for the better. I did it. I'm a living example and all that did for me was cause me to be sad, lonely, anxious, irritable, and WEAK.
Stop listening to what you read online and start LISTENING TO YOUR BODY. It's an amazing thing you know :)
I love you and I want you to be healthy and happy.
