The same goes with any kind of diet fad or trend. When you see someone else doing it, you think you should do it and it makes it OKAY.
It makes us feel like our restrictions and unhealthy habits are VALIDATED.
AND what's even worse... thoughts of jealously. You may think if SHE is eating this way, then she will get THIS body and I won't have a body like hers.
This is not okay.
But you think, “oh, I should be doing that too.”
We have a natural tendency to be part of the group. To be accepted. And maybe you feel more “accepted” if you follow along the diet and workouts other people are doing.
But you know what. You can still have friendship, love, and acceptance without having to cut out carbs or fat or whatever. You will still be accepted if you aren’t doing the workout that everyone on Instagram is doing.
YOU are worth so much more than a diet, being a specific weight, or looking a certain way.
And you know what else? If people shun you because you DON’T eat or move like them, then are they really your friends?
Don’t you think you have lost touch with what YOU want? With how YOU feel?
It’s not about doing what Suzy Q is doing. It’s about doing what YOU want to do and tuning-in to how YOU FEEL.
