Today I want to share with you where I am at with finding peace with my body, food and fitness.
The other night Eric was driving me home and we were talking about it. I was saying that my actual weight has not increased a lot in a few months, but if you compare my body to what it looked like a year a go, a lot has changed. I have gained more muscle mass. Right now I have the most muscle I have ever had on my body. I FEEL extremely alive. I am not tired or irritable all the time. I have energy to workout, work, and most importantly hold valuable relationships. I workout in ways that make me feel good (lifting, yoga and POP Pilates). I just feel like my body is at peace. I am no longer fighting what it tells me. I eat when I am hungry. I eat foods I enjoy. And I workout because it's a hobby and it makes me happy.
I no longer worry about having abs showing all day every day and from every angle. I embrace my body, my strength and who I am. I care more about things that are actually important like working hard, leading amazing POP Pilates classes and loving.
How have I done it? Well, through lots of ups and downs. Lots of tears, frustration and hard times. But each struggle makes you stronger.
Tips to find balance with your body:
A friendly reminder.
I had a student tell me this the other day and it got me thinking. Don't sell yourself short. Don't underestimate who you are and the hard work you do. Don't let other people take credit for what YOU make happen. I used to be the type of person who did this. I would belittle myself. But you are worth what YOU have to give. Let yourself shine.
