Ohhh the good old before and after pics! We see them all over social media - people displaying their fitness transformation journeys. How EMPOWERING and MOTIVATING right?
Hmm... well, some people don't think so. Some people roll their eyes every time they see a before and after. WHY?
This fascinates me. Why do we get so heated about someone else's before and after? Is it because we are comparing ourselves to them? We don't look like them?
But I get it...
Say we did the exact same workout plan as someone else, but their before and after looks "better" than ours? DAMN. That sucks. Right??
Well, we need to realize some things here:
1. We are TWO different people.
2. Life gets in the way of plans and programs - hence why people have different progress in different amounts of time.
3. We shouldn't look like them - we aren't them.
4. A picture is just a picture.
5. Read the caption.
6. Think critically and know that it's just social media.
7. FOCUS ON YOU!
I am personally a fan of before and after pictures. I love seeing my progress instead of rating it on the scale or some other way. But of course, you can measure progress by strength in the gym, etc. I also LOVE seeing other people's before and after pictures and not just because of the weight the lost or strength they have gained, but the HAPPINESS and CONFIDENCE that now shines through because they achieved something they never thought they could.
Do you feel like you're comparing yourself to people A LOT online? That is NOT GOOD for yourself, or your health. Be you, focus on YOU. If you find that you are really stuck in this mentality, then I highly suggest you check out my guide Obsessed to Free.
It will open your eyes to think critically and focus on how amazing and beautiful YOU are without having to compare yourself to others.
